A Trade Fair Stand That Connects

How does one execute a trade fair presence that unites numerous companies, partners, and thematic fields under one roof—while simultaneously establishing structure, visibility, and brand impact? At interpack 2026 in Düsseldorf, the VDMA convincingly met precisely this challenge with a modern stand concept that perfectly blends community, orientation, and openness.
The design was grounded in the VDMA’s new corporate identity. Deep blue tones, crisp white surfaces, and a distinctive slatted aesthetic combined to create a premium visual appearance. At the same time, this design visibly positioned the association as a strong umbrella organization for the industry.


The 350 m² head stand impressed with its clear spatial structure: four defined thematic zones and a lounge area formed the conceptual foundation of the exhibit. The space was complemented by several sub-exhibitors—including institutes from the Fraunhofer Society—who were seamlessly integrated into the overall concept. A central design element was the striking U-shaped ceiling banner, which served as both a navigational aid and a key recognition feature. The open side of the banner deliberately framed the communal area, fostering a strong sense of belonging among the partner exhibitors. Simultaneously, the banner fulfilled a functional purpose: integrated keywords from the packaging and processing machinery sectors facilitated quick orientation and guided visitors directly to the respective exhibitor zones.
The stand’s open architecture, featuring clearly defined walkways, facilitated intuitive visitor flow. Dedicated communication zones invited visitors to linger and network, while functional spaces—such as private booths and storage areas—were integrated discreetly yet efficiently. This ensured that the focus remained consistently centered on brand presence, communication, and visitor movement.
